Last week Yahoo! at the Search Engine Strategies (http://searchenginestrategies.com/sew/summer06/index.html) (SES) Conference, San Jose announced its latest paid search ad platform - Project Panama (http://www.forbes.com/markets/emergingmarkets/2006/04/06/yahoo-0406markets10.html) to attract otherwise visitors influenced by Google's mammoth charming spell all-round in the conference.
According to Yahoo! camp, the new search ad platform is going to take into account the number of clicks a given ad has received in its ranking. This is a new turn as initially the rankings of the Ads were based solely on the bidding amount.
This is NOT good news for advertiser who have low click-through-rate as they will now need to increase their bid to get top rankings with a hope to generate more clicks by way of their top rankings. S, they will now have to shell out more pennies.
The cleat winner is Yahoo! along with Advertisers with high CTC as they can afford to reduce their bid amount and continue to generate business as earlier.
With this move, searchers will now get more specific paid ads.
Slated to be launched during late 2006 or early 2007, Project Panama has host of new features for Advertisers to manage and run their PPC campaign more effectively.
