Static Vs Dynamic

So....with the database generation here, I have some questions

I have heard that dynamic site, and static pages are both the same when it come to bots crawling them..

Is this Really true?

Is there any more beneifits in having static pages for the bots?

Second Question,

Do you think bots would rather crawl a unique static site then a cookie cutter dynamic site?

Whats I mean by this is , there are serveral out of the box scripts for sale, you name its someone is selling it somewhere.

Is there anyway that a bot, google , msn, or yahoo would say "WOW...this site is all unique and html , I want to crawl this thing to death"

Vs

Some cookie cutter site which the bot has seen 1000 times in its path.

Now I know that google does have website or template fingerprinting (which is a total different topic)

But The main point of this post is to see what people opinions are on the good old fashioned html pages, and how the bots would like them. Just because dynamic is here to stay and the bots have now adjusted to them doesnt mean that they would like to see a classic html site again or does it?

I mean sure chips o' hoy cookies are great....

But theres nothing like your grandma's old fashioned cookies made from scratch...

I think about this stuff all the time and I just came accross a site that is a perfect example for this....

Last night I was looking at a directory that someone was selling and at first I thought to myself, great, just another directory.... but it was in a much more unique situation.... The whole thing is running in aspx, a more complex scripting language then the popular php directories out there....

There was a few other differences with this site then all those cookie cutter directory scripts out there, so I am guessing that the life of this site is going to be much more promissing then the average directory...

I do think that these charicteristics are very important as the search engines need to identify cookie cutter, MFA's etc....

As far as static verses scripted pages, I don't think it matters nearly as much as it used to..... Google is trying to figure out the sites purpose more than ever.... Mod rewrites and their popularity have changes the way se's view static.

I was thinking of building a huge arcade site all in static,

Now...yes I know that could take forever, but it would also allow meto do alot of cool custom stuff, using a basic php frame and all static pages,

I could also do alot of unique url's between the static pages and the mod write.

Its got me thinking....I guess I am going to attempt it and see what the out come is....

The only thing I can think of that might effect a dynamic site is how your linking to each page. If you have a text link pointing to each page then it should be just fine, but linking with something like a drop down list may cause problems. I switched from a drop down list and a button to text links on a dynamic site of mine and that was the key to getting all the dynamic pages indexed.

Yup - I also removed my drop downs. Not as advanced programmers as u you guys but I am starting to get the hang of it.

You can make a fully dynamic website appear as static. Use mod_rewrite and if need to be, session cookies (to avoid have IDs in url) - but do not depend on cookies to show content!

As far as static verses scripted pages, I don't think it matters nearly as much as it used to.....

It is much easier to tell a human about ThisAmazingPage.html rather than index.php?p=88&game=33&q=a so I like to use mod_rewrite just for that reason, even though the bots crawl them both the same. You can use a dynamic page as a html page just fine and it has the bonus of your keywords in the page address. im still trying to make a full site of both, static urls with dynamic content.

Overall I'd say it is definitely better to have a keyword driven static URL over a dynamic one... If you can plan ahead, I would definitely recommend the static URL method of either HTML or mod rewrite via htaccess.... I just don't know if I would rip apart an old school site to make it that way or not. But like I said, if you can plan ahead, go for the static, keyword driven URL's.

Ive lost two weeks of my life planning ahead and im still unsure, totally stuck between launching a new site or going with a pre build script/blog, may need another week to think about it...

Anything rememborable is easy to remember, static or seo friendy page names rule.
Thats for sure.
