Hi All,
This is a screenshot for one of my websites ( http://photo-sense.com/viewer.php?id=6176crawl_rate_(7_Feb_07).gif)
I have been seeing something puzzling now with the google crawl rate dropping and was wondering if anyone has experience this problem? of the crawl rate going up then suddenly dropping and not being able to recover over time?
Thanks for the help

I really haven't noticed any significant changes in Google's crawling and indexing on any of my sites.
But, by the looks of that chart, I just know I don't check as much as you do.... ;)

haha I just happened to be checking the graphs lately and i thought this was rather alarming. It was on a constant climb but then it dipped suddenly.
And that's scary hehe.

Crawl rate is effected by inbound links and a good judge of the quality of your inbound links is your PR. http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/q-a-thread-march-27-2006/ There is a snippet in this blog entry that talks about PR and crawl rate.
One of the classic crawling strategies that Google has used is the amount of PageRank on your pages. So just because your site has been around for a couple years (or that you submit a sitemap), that doesn’t mean that we’ll automatically crawl every page on your site. In general, getting good quality links would probably help us know to crawl your site more deeply.
