Measuring Time

I've got news for all of you, and it's an amazing development in search marketing....

Got an "add to your favorites" button on your site?
Well it may just be a good time to add one...

I'm hearing that the time people spend on your pages is soon if not already begin measured to disifer how interesting your site is to humans...

"Bookmarks" are also going to be counted if it's not happening already...

Lets face it, if your site is a good one, people are going to want to "bookmark" it, and the search engines now want to know about it... They're counting

This will no doubt be a part of the anticipated "gbrowser" that I just know is going to come out soon.. Not sure if the Google toolbar can record this type of data yet since the favorites button and setup is a part of internet explorer or whatever browser you are using..

Definetly something to think about... It makes sence.

If user is using an IE Browser they can quickly bookmark under favorites. This has kept me from implementing a BM hyperlink but maybe I should re-think this.

just turn the table other way round..

whenever you see a BM, the first think a visitor remembers is add to the favorite..

so, why leave it all to the visitor's decision...remind them to use BM on your website to future easy visit...

Surely this has to be an opt in/out scheme.

I don't want people to know what sites I bookmark any more than I want them to know which sites are bookmarked.

Besides, sounds like a potential security hole to me.

Well, when you agree to use resources such as the Google toolbar, for it's advanced features to be enabled, you must agree with their privacy policies which state you are releasing this type of information to them...

Remember, there is always some type of alterior motive to "free resources"....

There is always some type of alterior motive to anything free or not. Like it or not, potential security holes happen as soon as you step on-line, whether it's google, yahoo, or msn. It all boils down to who you really trust or how bad you want something. I have had a laptop running 2 yrs now on-line without any firewall or virus protection and the only security issues I have are from micro urging me to download the current updates. :eek:

knock on wood, I haven't had any problem for a very long time.... I am extreamly picky in what I download..

I guess all I was trying to get at is that I wouldn't want to rely on bookmarks saying what a good site is. Although I guess this would be a small part of any algo for calculating serps.

It just sounds all a bit Alexa ranking to me.
