April Fools Related or Major Problem for Me?

My sites are no where to be found in Google now, and they have PR0. My sites were down yesterday quite a bit due to technical problems. So, I understood about them being out of the searches and figured/hoped that they would be back soon when the sites were spidered again and found to be online. However, then I noticed the PR was 0 on all the sites (going down from 6), which made me very concerned, since I did not consider that to be something that would happen in relation. Is the sites going down issue just a coincidence? I am more than a little worried. What do you think? Tips? Suggestions? Comments? :) When I read your earlier post about April Fools, I thought it might be related, but I see that most sites do not have this...

Who is the hosting company that you are using?

Are they all hosted on the same hosting account....?

do all of those site link back to each other....

I'm thinkin they got picked up as a network...

Yes, they all link to each other. I did not know that was against the rules. They are all hosted on my dedicated server through ThePlanet. There are three unique IP addresses with those 4 sites (autoimager.com and mystikmedia.com are the only two on the same IP address). What should I do to get back in Google ASAP? Are my chances good for that?

This is what probably happened....

You've got them all hosted on the same server with unique IP addresses, but since they are all on the same machine and at the same location, they all have the same IP BLOCK....

like this:

65.191.65.87
65.191.65.88
65.191.65.89

even though the number is unique, the block is the same....

I honestly do not know how to get them back in...

What I would do is:

1 - stop linking them to each other....
2 - gain a very high ranking and strong inbound link to each individual property....

but there is no gaurantees..

If they were indeed banned, it's difficult to get back in... I would assume the ban was because of the linking to inflate popularity.

I dont think it is possible to get banned for internal linking.

I would look into redirects, as that is the most common reason to get banned.

I don't have any proof of it, but I do believe Google will penilise a "same network" link exchange if they go both ways....

Site A links to --------> Site B -------> Links Back to Site A

Site A --------------> Site B (same IP Address)

I ofcourse totally agree that you will get a penalty of much worse rankings, but have not seen evidence yet of Google dumping sites because of it from the index totally.

What might be the case is that Google marked this site for spamming and dropped it, but it is hard to prove this without spending too much time on it.

I'm not sure if we can even find an answer to these types of things no matter how much time we devote to it...

I myself, am not even happy with the amount of time I have spent thinking about it already with no forseeable answer... :D

Only thing that I can safely say as fact, is that I have made sure not to do this simply because the idea of it makes sence, and I'm guessing that this could be a possible flag for link popularity minipulation attempts...

I'm even considering the fact that whois data is being compared in the same fashion...

It is very hard to pinpoint the cause in this type of cases. Scare for those it happens to and scary for the rest of us.

Sadly, nothing new. No reply from Google; no change in the sites. :/

Google generally won't reply on things like that, and when they do, they usually send a auto-generated email telling you to please read their TOS and guidelines and such....

Unfortunetly we can only guess at what has happened...

I really think your best bet will be to minimize the linking to and from on all the sites and start building inbound links and content on a consistent basis...

It's the best and most natural way to get googlebot to index the content...
Make sure your content is unique and different from anything else...

But it cannot last forever, and Yahoo and MSN will still get you lots of traffic...

Yes, exactly. That is percisely what I have done and am doing. I have the best rankings on MSN, but not as much traffic from there as Yahoo. Google was outdoing them all by a significant amount. So, hoping that will come back. Time will tell, but as you said, focusing on the same for the others in the meantime.
